Charity

Feeding Allah’s creation is emphasized in both the Qur'an and Hadith as an important act of worship and humanity

From the Qur’an:

  1. Surah Al-Insan (76:8-9):
    • “And they give food, despite their love for it, to the poor, the orphan, and the captive.”
    • This verse highlights the virtue of feeding others out of love for Allah, especially those who are needy.
  2. Surah Al-Baqarah (2:177):
    • “Righteousness is not that you turn your faces towards the east or the west, but righteousness is in one who…gives his wealth, in spite of love for it, to relatives, orphans, the needy, the traveler…”
    • This verse defines righteousness, including the act of giving food and wealth to those in need as a core aspect of faith.

From Hadith:

  1. Sahih Bukhari:
    • Abdullah bin Amr bin Aas (RA) reported that the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said: “He is not a believer whose stomach is filled while the neighbor to his side goes hungry.”
    • This Hadith stresses the importance of caring for one’s neighbors and ensuring they are not hungry.
  2. Tirmidhi:
    • The Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said: “Feed the hungry, and greet those you know and those you do not know.”
    • This Hadith encourages Muslims to feed others as part of their faith and good character.

These references demonstrate that feeding others, especially the needy, is a significant act of kindness and a means of earning reward in Islam.
